Aquatic Therapy Shallow Pool Award
The Aquatic Therapy Shallow Pool Rescue Award is a supervision and rescue qualification for therapists, teachers and support staff working on the poolside or in the water during activities such as, aquatic therapy or therapeutic exercise/play. The qualification is suitable for use in shallow pools where the rescuer will not be required to swim to perform a rescue, with water no deeper than the rescuers chest depth.
What will you cover?
The Aquatic Therapy Shallow Pool Rescue Award is broken down into 2 sections:
- The Teacher/Therapist, Risk Assessment and Pool Safety
- Intervention, Rescue and Emergency Action
- CPR and First Aid (optional)
An Emergency First Aid at Work and AED certificate can also be integrated into this course. Please get in touch to discuss your options.
Assessment & Certificate
The ATSPRA assessment takes place at the end of the course by an independent assessor and determines your knowledge, understanding and skills of working within a pool environment and supervising sessions. You will also demonstrate these skills and knowledge in a work-related environment. The assessment is split into three sections:
- Theory assessment (question and answers)
- Pool assessment (practical)
Qualification Renewal
The qualification is valid for two years from the date of assessment and holders must renew their qualification within its period of validity. Before renewing the qualification your trainer should consider you prepared and ready for the assessment, which is achieved by attending the full course again. You will then be assessed in the same way as the initial assessment.
