First Aid at Work Re-Qualification
This two day course is designed for individuals who hold a First Aid at Work qualification that is due to expire. This course revalidates and updates your skills and knowledge, and covers the content of the First Aid at Work qualification.
What will you cover?
The First Aid at Work re-qualification course is exactly the same as the initial First Aid at Work qualification. Due to candidates currently holding the qualification and having existing knowledge the delivery time can be adjusted based on current HSE guidance for requalification to 12 hours (2 days). The First Aid at Work Qualification is comprised of two units:
Unit 1: Emergency First Aid in the Workplace
- Role and responsibilities of a first Aider
- Assessing an emergency situation
- Managing unresponsive casualties who are not breathing normally
- Managing unresponsive casualties who are breathing normally
- Choking
- Bleeding
- Shock
- Minor Injuries
Unit 2: Recognition and Management of Illness and Injury in the Workplace
- Conducting secondary surveys
- Injuries to Bones, Muscles and Joints
- Suspected head and spinal injuries
- Suspected chest injuries
- Burns and Scalds
- Eye injuries
- Suspected poisoning
- Anaphylaxis
- Major Illness
Assessment & Certificate
The assessment takes place continually over the course and determines your knowledge, skills and understanding of managing and treating a variety of workplace injuries and illnesses.
Qualification Renewal
This qualification is valid for three years from the date of assessment and holders must renew their qualification within its period of validity. To re-qualify you should be assessed against all of the learning outcomes and assessment criteria in each unit, which is achieved by attending the same two-day re-qualification.
